Guided Hikes

Your Hiking Hotel in Austria with Guided Tours - The mountains are a natural part of our lives – as the Rießlegger-Mayr family, we are already running the Rauriserhof in its third generation. It is from this deep connection that a hiking program has grown over the years, one that we design ourselves with a great deal of passion. Our hotel is located at the entrance to the village of Rauris, right in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, making it an ideal hiking hotel in Austria. It serves as the perfect starting point for everything the Rauris Valley has to offer in terms of mountain experiences – from relaxed valley walks to three-thousand-meter peaks in the Goldberggruppe. If you are looking for a hotel in Austria for hiking that combines family hospitality with alpine expertise, you have come to the right place.

Alpine Expertise: Hiking with Ina and Christian

Anyone booking a holiday with guided hikes wants to be able to rely on true professionals. Our in-house hiking guide team consists of Ina and Christian. Both are state-certified, highly trained – and out on the trails exclusively with our hotel guests daily from Monday to Friday.

We have been consistently developing this service for over 15 years. As a specialized hiking hotel with guided tours, we offer itineraries that stand out due to our insider knowledge: Ina and Christian know more than just the official paths; they know the quiet corners, the most beautiful scenic viewpoints, and the stories behind them. Those wishing to experience premium guided hiking tours in Austria will also learn a wealth of information about the alpine wildlife, the flora, the valley itself, and the centuries-old tradition of gold mining in Rauris along the way.

  • Trail Running & Vitality with Ina: Ina is a passionate runner. If you like, you can join her for trail running, a morning run, or a stretch-and-relax session. For her, the running routes in the Rauris Valley, with their views of the majestic peaks of the Goldberggruppe, are among the most beautiful anywhere.
  • Botanical Knowledge with Christian: Christian, on the other hand, is a certified herbalist. He takes our guests on guided herbal hikes, sharing his deep botanical knowledge directly and practically out in nature.
Our Summer Program

Five Side Valleys, Endless Possibilities

The Rauris Valley offers an extraordinary level of alpine diversity, which is directly reflected in our weekly schedule. Every week, Ina and Christian put together new itineraries, ensuring that even our regular guests always discover something new. Your stay with us offers far more variety than classic guided walking holidays in Austria.

  • Alpine Safari into the Krumltal: Once a week, we head into the "Valley of the Vultures" – one of the most successful wildlife reintroduction projects in the Alps. Here, you have a realistic chance of spotting the "Big Five" of the Alps in the wild: bearded vultures, golden eagles, ibex, chamois, and marmots.
  • Culinary Hiking in the Seidlwinkltal: We embark on a culinary journey through the historic "Valley of the Alpine Pastures." Hardly any other valley in the Hohe Tauern region has such a high density of rustic, managed alpine huts. On our tours, we stop by for a cozy break to enjoy regional delicacies.
  • The Weekly Summit Victory: Standing right at the top – at least once a week, a shared summit victory is on the agenda. If you have always wanted to stand safely guided at a summit cross, we give you the perfect opportunity.
  • Scenic Gaisbachtal: The Gaisbachtal is our special insider tip for anyone who loves wide panoramic vistas and extended, scenic high-altitude hikes.

Family Hikes During Holiday Seasons

During school holiday periods, we tailor our program to tours that suit all generations. Ina and Christian introduce our younger guests to nature in a playful way, taking time for the small discoveries along the path. Our classics include the Tilly Educational Trail on the Hochalm, gold panning at the Heimalm and at the head of the valley, as well as a visit to the bird of prey show on the Hochalm.

Winter Hiking and Snowshoe Tours Off the Pistes

Those specifically searching for hiking hotels in Austria for guided hikes often find that the offers end in autumn. It is different with us: in winter, we are one of the few hotels to consistently continue our guided hiking program.

From December to March, Ina and Christian accompany our guests through the valley from Monday to Friday – through snow-covered forests, across quiet high plateaus, and into the Kolm Saigurn valley head, which looks particularly impressive under a thick blanket of snow. The hiking hotel's winter program includes guided snowshoe and winter hikes, as well as a charming torchlit walk in the evening once a week. If you want to try something different, you can join us for a trial cross-country skiing session or try out the natural toboggan runs in Kolm Saigurn and on the Kreuzboden – both absolute classics for active winter days away from the ski slopes.

After the Tour: BergSpa and ¾-Pension

Once your hiking boots are off, the relaxation continues seamlessly in our spacious BergSpa. The centerpiece is the heated outdoor pool, kept at a comfortable 32 °C with unobstructed views of the Hohe Tauern mountains – open both summer and winter. This is complemented by an indoor pool, a whirlpool, and several saunas for the peaceful hours of the day.

On the culinary side, we accompany you with our ¾-Pension: a rich breakfast buffet with a live cooking station in the morning, a small afternoon snack with sweet and savory delicacies, and a creative 5-course menu in the evening, prepared by Chef Alexander Biechl and his team.

The Rauris Valley in the province of Salzburg is something truly special to us – and it would be our absolute pleasure to personally show you what a genuine hiking hotel with guided tours is all about. We look forward to welcoming you!
