Your Festive Holiday in Austria

Christmas in Rauris:

Fresh snow covering the peaks of the Hohe Tauern, the scent of pine needles and baked apples throughout the house, candlelight in the lounge: this is how the most wonderful time of the year begins with us. At the 4-star superior Hotel Rauriserhof in Austria, you experience Christmas the way it was meant to be – shaped by living traditions, heartfelt Salzburg hospitality, and plenty of quality time together. The Rießlegger-Mayr family and their team take care of the Christmas tree, the festive table, and your wellness. All you need to do is relax and enjoy.

Advent in the Rauris Valley: Living Traditions, Close at Hand The Rauris Valley is one of the most pristine valleys in Salzburger Land – and you can truly feel it during the pre-Christmas season. The customs here are not a staged show for tourists, but an authentic part of local village life. You are warmly invited to join in:

  • Rauris Advent Market: Stroll across the historic market square, discover handcrafted woodwork, genuine local artisan goods, and homemade seasonal treats.
  • St. Nicholas and Krampus Day (December 5th): St. Nicholas walks through the snow-covered village accompanied by angels and the traditional "Schiachperchten" (Krampus figures) – an unforgettable evening for children and adults alike.
  • The Rauris "Anglöckler": During the final days of Advent, groups of carolers go from door to door, bringing ancient blessings, good fortune, and traditional shepherd songs to the valley's farms and hotels.
  • Blessed Advent Wreaths: Many local families bind their own Advent wreaths by hand and have them blessed during the service on the first Sunday of Advent in the parish church.
