Monday up on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, Wednesday the Königstour on the Hochkönig, Friday the long valley runs in Gastein. And every evening you come back to the same room, without packing a single suitcase.
That is exactly what the Rauriserhof is made for. The 4-star superior hotel of the Rießlegger-Mayr family sits right in the centre of Rauris, in a valley that stays pleasantly quiet even in peak winter season. The free ski bus takes you to the local ski area, and six more ski areas are around 30 minutes away by car.
With the SuperSkiCard, a single pass gets you into 23 ski regions across Salzburg, Tyrol, Carinthia, Upper Austria and Styria. Together that adds up to more than 2,800 kilometres of slopes. All seven ski areas on this page are included, including the local ski area in Rauris.

It is easy to find your way around, and that is exactly what many families love about it: nobody gets lost, and the children can find the meeting point on their own. From the top, you look straight out at the peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Photo: © Hochkönig TourismusThe Königstour is a ski circuit across six peaks, with 35 kilometres of continuous slopes between Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. The mighty rock faces of the Hochkönig are in view almost the whole way. Leave plenty of time for the huts – stopping for a bite is simply part of the experience here.
The Kitzsteinhorn was Austria’s first glacier ski area. Thanks to its altitude, the season starts here as early as autumn and lasts well into spring. From the village of Kaprun, the 3K K-onnection takes you via the Maiskogel all the way up to the glacier.
On the Schmittenhöhe you ski with views of Lake Zell. If you want more, take the zell am see Xpress across to the Skicircus. Waiting for you there are 270 kilometres of slopes and Saalbach, host of the 2025 Alpine World Ski Championships.
Photo: © Gasteiner Bergbahnen / Max SteinbauerThe Gastein Valley has valley runs with more than 1,000 metres of vertical in one go. On the Stubnerkogel, a suspension bridge spans the rocks – not for the faint-hearted. After skiing, a detour to the Alpentherme thermal spa in Bad Hofgastein is well worth it.
Wide red and black runs across several peaks, plus lots of space for families. In Flachau you can ski the Hermann Maier World Cup course yourself, and in Wagrain the Flying Mozart gondola carries you high above the slopes.
The order is flexible. Check the weather and snow report in the morning, then decide where to go. On bright, sunny days the glacier is especially worth it.
That is the beauty of having one base: you see a different ski area every day and still come home in the afternoon.

Sauna, steam room and indoor pool loosen up your muscles after a long day on the slopes. If you like, add a massage on top.

A hearty Salzburg breakfast with regional produce in the morning, the skiers’ afternoon snack buffet and a multi-course dinner in the evening.

Quiet rooms with views of the snowy Rauris Valley, so you are back on the slopes fresh the next morning.
Dorfgastein is around 25 minutes by car, Dienten and Kaprun around 30 minutes, and Zell am See, Bad Hofgastein and St. Johann-Alpendorf around 35 minutes. If there is snow on the roads, allow a little extra time.
Yes. The SuperSkiCard covers all the ski areas featured here, including Rauris itself. In total, the pass covers more than 2,800 kilometres of slopes in 23 ski regions.
If you want to visit a different ski area every day, your own car or a hire car is the most flexible option. For ski days on the local mountain in Rauris, the ski bus is all you need.
