Harvest Festival Rauris 2026

When the larches on the slopes of the Hohe Tauern turn golden and the morning air is crisp and clear, the Rauris Valley is at its most atmospheric. During the Bauernherbst weeks – the SalzburgerLand's traditional farmers' autumn – local customs, music and regional cuisine take centre stage. One of the festive highlights is the Harvest Festival (Erntedankfest), when Rauris comes together to give thanks for the year's harvest.

Harvest Festival 2026: Date and Programme

Date: Sunday, 27 September 2026
Start: 8:30 a.m.
Meeting point: Rauris fire station
Church service: Parish Church of Rauris, Kirchplatz 1

Festive procession: At 8:30 a.m. the procession sets off from the Rauris fire station. From there it makes its way along Marktstraße to the parish church. The best way to enjoy it is from the roadside – arrive early to find a good spot.

Festive church service: The procession is followed by a festive service in the parish church. Dedicated to Saints James and Martin, the church with its Gothic choir and Baroque nave is the heart of the village and a fitting setting for the harvest celebration.

Just a Short Walk from the Hotel

The 4-star superior Rauriserhof is located on Marktstraße in the village centre – the very street the procession follows. The parish church is only a few minutes' walk away. So you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, stroll over to the festivities on foot and leave the car parked all day.

Excursion Tips Around the Festival Day

Rauris Valley Museum (Rauriser Talmuseum): The museum on Marktstraße is also within walking distance. Across 17 rooms in a historic building, it tells the story of rural life and work in the valley. Visitors can also explore the history of gold mining, a mineral collection and exhibits on the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Sonnblick Observatory.

Rauriser Hochalmbahnen: The gondola takes you from the village up into the mountains. On clear autumn days, the view stretches far across the peaks of the Hohe Tauern. Our reception team will be happy to provide current operating times.

Kolm Saigurn and the Rauris Primeval Forest (Rauriser Urwald): At the head of the valley, a short drive or bus ride from the village, ancient Swiss stone pines, larches and spruces grow among small moorland ponds. In autumn, the larches here glow especially brightly – a lovely way to round off the festive morning.

After the Festival: Unwind and Enjoy

After a morning full of traditional dress, music and good company, it's time to head back to the hotel.

Rauriserhof BergSpa: Warm up in the indoor pool (8 × 15 metres), the heated outdoor pool with mountain views, the rock sauna, a bio sauna, the steam bath and the infrared cabin. For quiet relaxation, retreat to the reading room with mountain views or the darkened relaxation room.
